Logging into the router’s configuration page

  • -> When you want to connect a laptop or any wireless device to the router then you will need first encryption key. In total, four keys are generated. Note down the first one to connect your laptop to the router.
  • -> Click on Apply button to save the settings you have made.

WAN connection type

DHCP and static are the two options for connection types. The default connection type is DHCP for all the computers. DHCP lets your device to automatically have the IP address.   • -> From the drop list on the front screen, select the option named “Obtain an IP automatically”.

If you request to setup static IP address then you will receive an email with all the necessary details. You will have to enter the host name, domain name, WAN IP address, Subnet mask, default gateway, DNS. After entering all the details, click on the Apply button.

Initial Setup of Linksys router

  • -> Connect WAN port and network port on the wall. The WAN port is located beside the reset hole at the back of the router.
  • -> Connect your laptop with one of the LAN ports on the router labelled 1 to 4.
